Feed me man: Just wait a little while

Well, I finally learned what that little orange icon at the top of all of the blogs I visit means, so much for being apart of my technologically savvy generation. So basically an RSS feed will let me keep track of every blog and newsite etc. that I care about. I like the idea of that, being able to have the blogs I like with me always. I don't think this idea is practical for everyone. I mean on any given day the chances of me actually checking every blog and syndication and new or updates news article on my google reader is slim. It's not because of any apathy on my part, I just don't have time to follow blogs and podcasts and other things religiously, not even the ones I like. I think it would be helpful if say some huge occurance took place at work. I could check into a blog posts that my employer provides and keep track of any important news.

I'm not sure how a library could use RSS feeds in general. I guess that it could be a valuable resource for librarians if they use it to keep track of websites featuring the latest books that are popular and reviews, etc. It could also serve as a way for them to interact more efficiently about what might be happening at other brach libraries throughout the city, again this depends on librarians taking the time to check all of these things on an almost daily basis. I think doing that would present less of a challenge for librarians though, if it was done through a program like web 2.o where they had the time to keep up with and continually check updates of important RSS feeds while at work.
